Our city’s founders were wise to recognize the balance of what makes Cambridge remarkable. A mention of “Harvard Square” and one’s mind goes to ivy and academia. American Repertory Theatre

• The American Repertory Theatre seeks to expand the boundaries of theatre, exploiting texts from across cultures and ages.

Club Passim

• Club Passim, a non-profit music center, is devoted to the cultivation and preservation of folk music.

Jose Mate’s Ballet Theater

• Housed in the glorious Old Cambridge Baptist Church, the performing company regularly presents new and classical ballet performances at its newly renovated Sanctuary Theatre.

OBERON

• OBERON is the American Repertory Theatre’s theatrical club space.

Revels

• Founded in 1971 by musician, educator, and author John Langstaff to celebrate the seasons in performance through the power of traditional song, dance, storytelling, and ritual from cultures around the world.

Harvard Film Archives

• The Harvard Film Archive offers a public cinematheque program, presenting films Friday through Monday nights year round. All screenings are held in the Archive's 200-seat theater located in the historic Carpenter Center for the Arts.

 Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts

• Housed in the only building on the North American continent designed by the famous French architect Le Corbusier, the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts hosts a prestigious lecture series and a variety of exhibits.

Hasty Pudding Theatricals

• The Hasty Pudding Theatricals have presented their unique brand of student-written theater every year since 1844, the only exceptions being for World Wars I and II.

Museums & Attractions

Harvard Art Museum

• The Harvard Art Museum is one of the world's leading arts institutions, comprising three museums (Fogg Museum, Busch-Reisinger Museum, Arthur M. Sackler Museum) and four research centers (Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, Center for the Technical Study of Modern Art, Harvard Art Museum Archives, Archaeological Exploration of Sardis, Turkey).

• In 2008, the building at 32 Quincy Street that formerly housed the Fogg and Busch-Reisinger museums closed for a major renovation.  During this renovation, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum at 485 Broadway remains open and has been reinstalled with some of the finest works representing the collections of all three museums.

Harvard Museum of Natural History

• The Harvard Museum of Natural History was established in 1998 as the public face of three research museums: the Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Harvard University Herbaria, and the Mineralogical and Geological Museum. Presenting the incomparable collections of these parent museums and the research of scientists across the University, it has a mission to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the natural world and the human place in it, sparking curiosity and a spirit of discovery in people of all ages.

• The Peabody Museum is among the oldest archaeological and ethnographic museums in the world with one of the finest collections of cultural history found anywhere.
